Review : Sub Par Yet Again
I think otep is an amazing band...However. I believe the last couple albums have simply been "Same old". Not imaginative at all.
First, just because this album doesn't have any swearing does not mean it isn't explicit.
Half the album is just poem crap. And many of those are messed up Jargain, just like the last album... Some poem about torturing and killing some guy that likes to torture animals. Another half song about pretty much the same thing except doing it to other people. Dealing with themese of murder, killing, rape, torture, incest. It's not a sunny day in Otep land, and it never will be.
The few songs that managed to make the album are sub-par at best. Same freaking themes over and over. Some are catchy, some are annoying.
My main point and message to the band. Making "messed up" for the sake of doing so over and over again gets old.
Same thing with "rebel" music. Big whoop, you rebel for the sake of doing so. Go stand...
